WELCOME TO THE WINDSTAR COLORADO CONNECTION!
Windstar's first Connection group
ABOUT THE
WINDSTAR COLORADO CONNECTION
The Windstar Colorado Connection is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. The Windstar Colorado Connection is also recognized by
the State of Colorado and is in "Good Standing" with the Colorado Secretary of State in 2008.

The Windstar Colorado Connection is the Colorado "chapter" of the Windstar Foundation, founded in 1976 by John Denver and
Tom Crum. The WCC was founded in the late 1980s as
Windstar Connection-Denver and includes members from
across Colorado and other states. It is the first Connection group
founded as part of the Windstar Foundation.

The Colorado Connection is active in promoting issues that
benefit the environment and creating programs that
educate and encourage healthy lifestyle choices in
partnership with the Windstar Foundation's mission statement
and philosophy.

Letter Day 2007 Celebrates the Season and Pays Tribute to
"The Christmas Gift" in Georgetown, Colorado
Well, neither snow, bitter wind, a late arriving Father Christmas and Cupid the reindeer could keep Letter Day 2007 from being a great
success. While the cold and Friday's snow did keep the crowds down a  bit from last year, perhaps 100-150 people stopped by Strousse
Park in Georgetown to sample the many booths and exhibitors that our own Linda Edmondson invited and arranged to have at this year's
event. A BIG thank you to Linda who worked tirelessly since last year's event to bring some new groups to Georgetown and also to
coordinate with Georgetown officials. She has set a beautiful precedent for next year's event.

Among this year's new groups were The Wilderness Society, The Great Old Broads for Wilderness, Backpacker Magazine, Hawkquest, who
set up shop in the Grizzly Creek gallery across the street to keep their awesome birds out of the cold. Also, Jefferson County Open Space
had an exhibit at the park along with the Colorado Mountain Club and of course, Windstar and the Colorado Connection anchored the
corner booths with information about the Foundation. Also, WCC member Lycia Adams set up her display that promotes Green Living and
how homes can be built more efficiently and with less impact on the environment. Thank you to her and all of the WCC members who came
along this year. A special thanks to Rita MacLean for helping out with the Bake Sale and Goodies that did very well for patrons who came
along. And we were happy to see as always Betsy and Newell Woodbury with their always present smiles and Steve Gorman for his help
setting up and assistance throughout the day.

For the second year in a row, Tom Conley brought the Busy Bee Cab from Littleton and it was a big hit as always. We had several cast
members from John's movie The Christmas Gift at a 2:30 casting call. It was just a great day with so much fun and camaraderie.

And again, a huge thank you and appreciation to Linda Edmondson who did simply fantastic dealing with the weather but also set up
partnerships with several groups who will likely join Windstar again for future events. One from the past was present with a display...The
Murie Center would like to really look at partnering with the WCC and Windstar and we look forward to rekindling that relationship. And a
thank you to all the groups who participated:

EARTH DAY 2008 AT RED ROCKS A STUNNING
SUCCESS WITH NEW GROUPS, SUMMERTIME
WEATHER AND HUNDREDS OF VISITORS!
It was one for the record books, and more importantly, a victory for the earth as an estimated 500-1000 people came to
Earth Day 2008 at Red Rocks April 19. The weather cooperated for the first time in 3 years with summertime
temperatures and afternoon gusts around 45mph. The crowds that swelled on the Visitor Center Plaza made this the
most successful Earth Day event for the Windstar Colorado Connection and the Windstar Foundation. The groups
below also joined us and experienced a very successful turnout at their individual stations. We want to thank each of
them for their participation and work for spreading green theme awareness and promoting environmental and habitat
messages.

Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center                                        The Sierra Club
REC Solar           Hawkquest         Colorado Mountain Club        Conifer Area Trail Study
Defenders of Wildlife                                                              Douglas County Citizens for Wildlife

We'd also like to thank our musical entertainment...John Adams, Susan Kay from Cheyenne, Wyoming and "Aspen
Meadow," who came all the way from Oregon to experience the magic of playing some of John Denver's favorites at Red
Rocks. Among the 20 plus performers and family members who made the trip to Colorado, Jake Love sang lead vocal.
Jake thrilled those who gathered at Windstar last October during the annual Open House Celebration. We're thrilled that
"Aspen Meadow" joined us this year for Earth Day.

John Adams has been an ardent supporter of Windstar and after nearly losing his voice in the wind last year, roused the
crowd this year with his special talent he has been giving crowds for plus 30 years. We're always happy to have John at
Windstar-related events.

And Susan Kay who typically entertains at Renaissance festivals came from Wyoming with a beautiful rendition of John
Denver songs. She's also one of our newer enthusiastic members of the Colorado Connection.

We will have a selection of photos posted here soon. We also want to thank all of the Windstar Colorado Connection
members who came out for the day to help with this year's event.
